The private sector, as an engine of growth, innovation and investment to developing countries, has a major role to play in development. In recent years, businesses and foundations have been at the cutting edge of development innovation through core business activities, public private partnerships, social responsibility activities, and cross-sector or multi-stakeholder partnerships for development, with growing impact on development.
The Private Sector Forum offers an opportunity to identify how to further support and enhance the positive role of the Private Sector in driving development, promoting innovative development solutions, increasing corporate sustainability and encouraging effective public-private co-operation for development. The main messages from the Forum are expected to feed into the discussions and outcomes of the Ministerial plenary session on Private Sector Engagement and to contribute to generating a post-Busan follow up to enhance cooperation between the public and the private sector at both the country and global level.
The Forum will bring together representatives from the Private Sector, Governments, Civil Society and International Organisations in a dialogue to share experiences, lessons learned and to identify solutions to strengthen the role of the Private Sector as a driver for economic growth and development.
