Aid Management

Since the advent of the Paris Declaration in 2005, many developing countries and their donor partners have invested in building up structures, processes and tools for improving their aid management capacity.  This section explores a number of common approaches to strengthening aid management, including:

  • Policies, strategies and action plans to localise the principles of the Paris Declaration and Accra Agenda for Action and organise their implementation;
  • Aid information management systems, which track aid flows and help improve the transparency and predictability of aid;
  • Mechanisms for dialogue and coordination on development issues and aid management;
  • Joint Assistance Strategies and processes for organising the donor division of labour;
  • Joint donor missions and analytical work, to increase coherence and reduce transaction costs.
